Blenheim Duo Playing OUA Rugby For Waterloo
As the Kent Havoc Rugby organization and local high school loops continue to develop in Chatham-Kent, more local rugby players are continuing to advance to the OUA level.
This year, two Blenheim residents, Cassidy Cameron and Lawren Maris will suit up for the Waterloo Warriors women’s rugby program.
Cameron, who is studying math at Waterloo, played for the Blenheim District High School Bobcats last season. Cameron was a part of the back-to-back Kent champion Bobcats girls rugby team.
Lawren Maris, who is also a graduate of the BDHS rugby team is joining Cameron at Waterloo this season. Maris is also studying math and is entering her first season with the Warriors.
Waterloo opened the season on a strong note defeating Trent 38-17. In week two, Waterloo continued to win defeating Brock 33-15, before losing their first of the season 47-0 to Guelph. Week four, Waterloo got back 28-10.
The duo join Elizabeth Hunninck who starred last year for the Brock Badgers. Hunninck helped the Badgers win a Rugby 7s tournament in Las Vegas and was integral in Brock’s season success.
