Fox Misses Season Opener With Broken Foot

Dane Fox of the Erie Otters

Thamesville’s Dane Fox missed the OHL season opener with his Erie Otters due to a broken foot. While Erie was on the ice facing the Niagara Ice Dogs, Fox remained at home in Thamesville recuperating.

Erie head coach Robbie Ftorek, stated there is no timetable for Fox’s return. Fox has a broken bone in his left foot and will rejoin the Otters, at the earliest, following the opening weekend which features games against Niagara and the London Knights.

Erie lost their opener 4-2 to Niagara.

Last season, Fox led the Erie Otters with 23 goals and 31 assists in 62 games following a midseason trade from the London Knights. Fox went undrafted in the NHL Priority draft, but attended a New York Rangers prospect camp this summer.

The Otters have improved their roster over the summer, including the acquisition of young stars such as Connor McDavid, the first overall pick in last year’s OHL draft.
