The puck is about to drop on another season of Great Lakes Junior C Hockey as the regular season schedule gets underway Friday night as Kingsville hosts Belle River, and Dresden hosts Blenheim.

The Dresden Kings will be welcoming back several key veterans from their unexpected playoff run last season including Jesse Allen, Cam Ross, Jeff Vanrabaeys, Brennan Rainey, and goalie Brent Paxton.

Meanwhile, the Blenheim Blades will have several new faces on their opening day line up after the graduation of key veterans.

The local rivalry will renew what ended last year when the Dresden Kings eliminated the Blenheim Blades in a thrilling playoff series, 4 games to 1.

Blenheim has a busy opening weekend as they host the Wallaceburg Lakers Sunday for their home opener. Puck drops Sunday at 7:05pm. The Lakers will also be a young team again this season after losing leading scorers Tyson Isaac and Norm Leger to overage.

Wallaceburg’s home opener will be Wednesday, September 12 as the Lakers host the Dresden Kings for a 7:30pm game.
