Kings, Lakers Win Again
After falling behind 1-0 in the first minute of the game, Matt Clarke tied it up for the Kings later in the first, scoring a powerplay goal assisted by John Montgomery and Dylan Mertz.
In the second period, it was all Kings, as Brennan Rainey scored shorthanded, followed by an even strength marker by Kyle Havens.
Although the Kingsville Comets showed signs of life in the third, Dresden was too strong for the home team. Derek Daly scored a powerplay goal which turned out to be the game winner, before Dylan Mertz and Jesse Allen scored insurance goals.
After picking up 3 points in the game, Dylan Mertz sits second in league scoring through 5 games with 4 goals and 5 assists.
The Wallaceburg Lakers were on the road to Watford Saturday to play the Alvinston Flyers, where they picked up their second straight win, taking the game 5-1.
At 3:27 of the first period, Jeff Morey netted the first goal of the game for the Lakers, assisted by Robert Towsley and Joe Daly. With 1:08 left in the first period, Kyle Cutler scored for Alvinston to tie the game 1-1 tp end of the first period.
Lakers Joe Allison scored the go ahead goal at 15:48 of the second period assisted by Scott Lubbers and Lucais Meyskens, followed by another Lakers goal netted by Scott Lubbers assisted by Chris Taylor to end the second period 3-1 Lakers.
In the third period at 6:57 Chris Taylor chipped one in unassisted, before Joe Daly scored unassisted to close out the scoring and make it 5-1.
Devin Cove played outstanding in net for the Lakers making 35 saves/

It’s good to see the Lakers off to a decent start here in the new season. It looks like Scott Lubbers could have a break out year!
