Lakers Continue Hot Start To Season
After finishing last overall in 2011-2012, the Wallaceburg Lakers have started strong this season. Saturday on the road, the Lakers defeated the Mooretown Flags 6-5, led by a Jeff Nolfo hat trick.
Mooretown jumped out to a dominating 3-0 lead in the first period on goals by Matt Brandon, Andrew Sokol, and Travis Mullen.
Following the intermission however, Wallaceburg, led by Nolfo, took over. In a two minute span, Nolfo scored a hat trick for the Lakers, tying up the game. His first two, assisted by Justin Whitson and Barry Braun, were scored even strength, while his third was a powerplay marker assisted by Jake Carter.
Carter would score a goal of his own later in the period to keep the game tied 4-4 heading into the third period.
In the third, Chris Taylor and Sam Jasmin would score for the Lakers, with Lucais Meyskens assisting on both, to push the Lakers to the win.
Devin Cove backstopped Wallaceburg to another win, making 26 saves for the Lakers.
