Maroons Win Third Straight
The Chatham Maroons are off to a hot start in the GOJHL Western Conference.
Sunday night in front of a large home crowd, the Maroons shot down the St. Thomas Stars 6-2. Rookie goalie Scott Tricker made his first start, and was named the games first star making 36 saves on 38 shots.
After falling behind 1-0, Jake Flegal and Ben Pataki scored 11 seconds apart for the Maroons in the second period to get the ball rolling for Chatham.
On the powerplay in the third, Evan Mascaro scored the eventual game winning goal. Michael Verboom scored an even strength marker, before captain Sean Myers scored on the powerplay again.
St. Thomas would score once more in the third, before Myers slid his second of the game into the empty cage after St. Thomas pulled their netminder.
Chatham will face the Sarnia Legionnaires Thursday on the road.
