Slur Leads To Another Maroons Suspension

Earlier this week, the Chatham Maroons suspended assistant coach Kyle O’Neil for an anti-Semitic comment he made via Twitter.

Following Wednesday’s win over LaSalle, Chatham forward Thomas Eady was the latest member of the Maroons to be suspended for his comments.

Eady received a 7-game suspension from the OHA for a discriminatory slur gross misconduct. The content of Eady’s remarks was not disclosed.

The incident reportedly happened following Michael Verboom’s overtime winner for the Maroons, and was directed at a LaSalle Vipers player.

Eady, 18, who is in his second season with the Maroons, was dressing in his first game of the season Wednesday against LaSalle. He did not record a point, but was given a 10 minute misconduct earlier in the game for “inciting an opponent.”

Last season, Eady scored 8 goals and added 13 assists in 44 games.

Chatham will travel to Lambton Shores Saturday to face the Predators, before hosting the St. Thomas Stars Sunday at Memorial Arena.
