Together We Can… #NoLockout
I haven’t sat down and put together a column in a long time. For whatever reason, my creativity seems to have waned and I’ve been left feeling uninspired and unmotivated.
Sometimes it’s easy to forget that sports aren’t life. Nothing replaces family, friends, and faith. Sometimes it’s also easy to trivialize sport. To forget the healing power, and the relief it can give people. Not only the athletes, but the fans.
With that in mind, and thinking of the NHL lockout, this video really struck me. It’s long. A little over 8 minutes, but well worth it. Stop and watch, and remember. The last minute in particular gave me chills, and brought me back to some incredible moments. Moments where it didn’t matter what was going on in the world, because Stevie Y roofed a clapper from the point to beat St. Louis in game 7, or because Ray Bourque hoisted his first and only Stanley Cup with his son crying in the background.
The world didn’t seem so bad at those moments, which is why this video encourages fans to step up, and make their voice heard to ensure hockey is one the ice, where it belongs, this winter.
