Koopmans Wins Provincial Bronze With Redeemer

Chatham’s Julie Koopmans finished off another spectacular OCAA cross country season last week winning a provincial bronze medal with her Redeemer Royals team.

Koopmans, a Chatham Christian graduate, was the first Royals runner to cross the line at the finals, which were held at Algoma University in Ste. Sault Marie. Koopmans finished the course in a time of 19:25, good for 12th place individually.

Her Redeemer team finished with a total of 75 points, 16 behind second place Sault College.

On the men’s side, Port Lambton’s Taylor Kraayenbrink was the top Redeemer runner, finishing in a time of 26:19, good for 11th overall.

Based on their finishes, Koopmans and Kraayenbrink were also named to the 2nd All-Ontario Cross Country team.
