Lakers Continue Skid

After starting the season with six wins in their first eight games, the Wallaceburg Lakers have lost four of their last five games, including a 5-2 game Tuesday night in Essex.

Essex opened the scoring with back to back powerplay goals in the first period. Adam Dunmore got things going, followed by a goal from Jordan Brohman. Corey Beaulieu, who leads the Essex 73s in scoring this season with 25 points in 16 games, rounded out the first period scoring.

Sam Jasmin got the Lakers on the board in the second period. Jeff Nolfo assisted on the goal, which stood as the only marker of the second period.

Early in the third, Jasmin scored again unassisted to cut the Essex lead to one, but the home team would battle back and put Wallaceburg away.

Scott Bromley scored a shorthanded goal for Essex, before Jordan Ryqan buried another to put the game out of reach.

Wallaceburg hosts the Wheatley Sharks Wednesday at 7:30pm.
