Lakers Streak Haulted By Essex

The Wallaceburg Lakers suffered their first loss in four games losing to the second place Essex 73’s 6-2.

After a scoreless first period for Wallaceburg with Essex leading 3-0, the Lakers rallied back to pick up two goals.

Netting the first goal for the Lakers was Sam Jasmin, assisted by Jake Carter at the 1:34 mark of the second, followed by a goal from Jeff Nolfo assisted by Justin Whitson and Kyle Jacobson ending the second period 4-2.

In the third period Essex added two more goals to win the game. Devin Cove played strong in net blocking thirty four of forty shots on net.

“We didn’t get off to a good start,” said Head Coach Paul Grealis. “The guys were not strong on the puck. We have to make the game simple, defense first. We are not a run and gun team,” said Grealis.

The Lakers next home game is October 10 vs the Alvinston Flyers at 7:30 pm.
