Perfect No More, Blades Lose

After starting the season with a sparkling 7-0 record, the Blenheim Blades finally suffered their first loss of the season Tuesday night in Essex.

The Essex 73s opened the first period with a pair of powerplay goals from Adam Dunmore and Aaron Thibert.

In the second, Blenheim was the only team to score as Aaron Pastorius had an unassisted marker.

Essex would again power through the third period, scoring three unanswered goals. Colin Moore, Blaise Baillargeon, and Daniel McIntyre had the goals for the 73s.

Despite the loss, the Blenheim Blades remain in first overall in the Great Lakes Junior C Hockey League. The Blades have over a week off now before they travel to Kingsville October 13, and host Essex in Blenheim October 14.
