Flegel Named Top Defender, Campbell Top Forward For October
Chatham Maroons defenseman Jake Flegel has been named the GOJHL’s Western Conference defenseman of the month for October.
Flegel, an off season acquisition from the Junior A Cobourg Cougars, where he served as team captain, has been a tower on the Maroons blueline this season, helping to shut down the opposition’s top lines while also contributing offensively.
In the month of October, Flegel scored 3 goals and added 8 assists for 11 points in 10 games.
Overall, Flegel leads all Western Conference defencemen in scoring with 17 points.
Dylan Denomme of the LaSalle Vipers was the Western Conference’s top forward, while Strathroy Rockets goalie Dalen Kuchmey took goaltender of the month honours.
Blenheim’s Brady Campbell, who plays for the Elmira Sugar Kings, was named the October Forward of the Month for the GOJHL’s Midwestern Conference.
In 8 games in October, Campbell collected 18 points, including back to back hat tricks in a home and home with Guelph.
