Royals Shock Patriotes, Win Kent Title
The Ridgetown Royals shocked the back-to-back defending champion Pain Court Patriotes Thursday night stealing their Kent crown in the Senior Girls A Basketball loop.
After being tied at the half, and trailing by one heading into the fourth quarter, the Ridgetown Royals pulled out a 44-39 Kent championship victory. Hope Long paced the Royals with 13-points in the win, while Cheyenne Hopkins had 12-points and Karleigh Hopkins had 10.
Pain Court’s Krystine Goodison led all scorers with a game high 14-points in the loss.
In the Junior Kent A final, Pain Court edged the Lambton-Kent Cardinals 28-26.
Jorja Paraskevopoulos topped all Pain Court scorers with 8-points, while Olivia Pepper had 6. Dresden’s Maddi Van Rycheghem had a game high 10-points.
