Soccer Season Ends For Kennedy and Mustangs
The OUA soccer season came to a close this weekend for Chatham’s Hannah Kennedy and her Western Mustangs as they were defeated 1-0 by the McMaster Marauders in a shootout.
Kennedy was praised on the Western Mustangs for her performance in the game. The second year midfielder narrowly missed clinching the game for the Mustangs late, as she deflected a header off the McMaster cross bar in the final minutes of play.
After the overtime period settled nothing, the game went into a shootout. Kennedy, a Chatham-Kent Secondary School graduate, was selected to shoot for the Western Mustangs, and took advantage of her opportunity scoring a top corner goal.
Western however, would fall 3-2 in the shootout giving the Marauders the win, and eliminating Western from OUA contention.
Western was tied with McMaster for second in the OUA West during the regular season, with an impressive 10-4-2 record.
In an earlier meeting this season against McMaster, Kennedy scored the game winning goal in a 2-0 victory.
