Flyers Slip By Lakers, Sharks Win

After building a lead early in their game against the Alvinston Flyers, the Wallaceburg Lakers watched their lead deteriorate, and the game slip away in the third period of Friday’s game.

Lucais Meyskens, Sam Jasmin, and Jeff Nolfo all scored in the first period as the two teams battled to a 3-3 tie after one period.

In the second, Wallaceburg pulled ahead as Lucais Meyskens completed his hat trick scoring twice in the period. Bobby Domin assisted on both of Meyskens’ second period goals.

As the third period started, Alvinston came out with a better effort, outshooting Wallaceburg 16-8 in the frame. Alvinston scored 3 unanswered goals to start the period before Jeff Nolfo scored his second of the game to tie things at 6-6.

Alvinston however, would have the last laugh as Josh Moore scored the game winner with just over two minutes remaining, giving the Flyers the 7-6 victory.

In other Great Lakes Junior C action, the Wheatley Sharks defeated the Belle River Canadiens 5-2. Sebastian Kanally scored twice for Wheatley in the win, while Riley Babkirk, Jon Woelk, and Kyle Quick each scored singles. Marc Tremblay made 26 saves in the win.
