High School Schedule Plays Out With Stoppage Looming

Tuesday night, a half dozen high school games took place in boys basketball and boys hockey, despite the looming cancellation of extracurricular activities, including sports, next Monday.

In high school hockey, the CKSS Golden Hawks poured on the offence, defeating the UCC Lancers 7-3.

Austin Bentley opened the scoring for CKSS, his first of two goals in the game. Grade 11 forwards Alec Miller and Nolan Smith also had two goals a piece, while Blake Padbury had a single. Ross Kreiger, Brandon Wgyrzen, and Braeden Nicholson scored for the UCC Lancers in the losing effort.

In senior boys basketball action, CKSS topped Tilbury 61-28, John McGregor thumped Ridgetown 76-32, UCC defeated Pain Court 50-13, Wallaceburg dominated Dresden 48-15, and Blenheim downed Chatham Christian 46-18.

The games mark the last of the schedule for many Chatham-Kent high school teams as teachers are set to step back from extracurriculars December 10.
