Kings Fall to Belle River

In the opening frame, the Canadiens jumped out to a 2-0 lead with goals from Richard Dunning and Derek Haskell.
As the second period got underway, Dresden’s Taylor Sisson cut the Belle River lead to one. In his first game with the Dresden Kings, following a trade from the Wallaceburg Lakers earlier this week, Mike Myers scored for the Kings to send the game to the third period knotted at two.
Weston Gaul scored five minutes into the third to regain the lead for the Belle River Canadiens, but Dresden’s Cam Ross would answer back, with assists going to Derek VanEvery and Cody McPhail to again tie the game.
Donovan Plummer scored the game winner for Belle River midway through the third period, before Gaul put in an insurance, empty net goal in the last minute to give Belle River the 5-3 win.
In other Junior C action, the Alvinston Flyers handed the Wallaceburg Lakers their sixth straight loss. Alvsinton defeated the Lakers 4-1. Joe Daly scored Wallaceburg’s only goal, assisted by Trevor Williams and new acquisition Brennan Rainey.
