Maroons Special Teams Top Nationals
Eric Palazzolo opened the scoring for Chatham with the man advantage in the first period. Jake Flegal picked up his first of three assists in the game on the play, and veteran Brennan Feasey also added a helper.
In the second, London tied the game, before Maroons captain Sean Myers scored his team’s only even strength goal of the game to send Chatham to the third period up 2-1.
To open the third period, Michael Verboom scored two shorthanded goals for the Chatham Maroons only 1:24 apart, to blow the Maroons’ lead wide open.
Later in the third, underager Steven Beenackers scored on the powerplay, and then assisted on a powerplay goal by Ian Faubert to make the game 6-1.
Darien Ekblad made 28 saves in the win.
Chatham is now off until January 3rd when the Maroons travel to St. Thomas to face the Stars. Through 35 games, the Maroons have a 5 point pad on first with 51 points.
