A Slow Month In High School Sports Expected
With the ongoing conflict between the Ontario government and teachers, it’s expected to be a very slow month in high school sports.
After several leagues were shut down last month, separate school teams including the UCC Lancers, ESPC (Pain Court) Patriotes, and Chatham Christian Flames continued participating in some competitions.
The three schools can continue entering tournaments and competing against each other locally.
Until a contract is reached, and the teacher union’s give the go ahead for extracurricular participation by teachers, most games are expected to be cancelled again in January.
In the first week back to school, there were 40 games on the schedule across basketball, hockey, volleyball, and curling.
