Comets Keep Slim Playoff Hopes Alive
The Kingsville Comets wouldn’t allow the Wallaceburg Lakers to celebrate a playoff position, at least not yet.
Wednesday, the Wallaceburg Lakers fell 6-1 to the Belle River Canadiens. A win would have secured their spot in the playoffs. Sam Jasmin had the only Wallaceburg Lakers goal in the loss, his 23rd of the season.
In Kingsville, a loss for the Comets would have also spelled a Wallaceburg playoff position as the Lakers sat 5 points ahead of Kingsville, with the Comets having only three games remaining.
Laine Parent shut the door for Kingsville however, making 31 saves in a 5-0 shutout. The win pulls Kingsville within 3 points of Wallaceburg.
A Lakers win, or a Kingsville loss in the final two games however, will secure Wallaceburg’s playoff spot.
