Do Or Die For The Wallaceburg Lakers

Win and they’re in. That’s as simple as it gets, and that’s the chance the Wallaceburg Lakers will have Wednesday night as they host the Wheatley Sharks.

Wallaceburg currently has 25-points, sitting 1-point ahead of the Kingsville Comets for the eighth and final playoff spot. If the Lakers lose, they leave the door open for Kingsville to overtake them Friday night as the Comets close out the season against first place Essex.

Wallaceburg limped through much of January, allowing Kingsville to close the gap, until they picked up consecutive wins January 16 and 19 against Blenheim and Mooretown. Wallaceburg however, lost 3 of 4 games this season against Wheatley.

Kingsville enters their game Friday on a 2 game win streak, defeating Mooretown and Alvinston to climb within a single point of Wallaceburg.

Puck drop for the Wallaceburg Lakers is Wednesday at 7:30pm, at Wallaceburg Memorial Arena. Whether it is the Lakers or Comets that sneak into the playoffs, their first round opponent will be the dominating Essex 73s.
