Dresden Raceway Slots Agreement in Place
The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) has reached a deal in principle for the lease agreements of 10 slots facilities, including those at Dresden Raceway.
“We are pleased to announce that we have reached lease agreements in principle with 10 gaming sites,” said Rod Phillips, President and CEO of OLG in an official press release, “We have longstanding and positive relationships with our siteholders and look forward to working with them in the future.”
After the closing of slots facilities at Hiawatha in Sarnia, and Windsor Raceway, coupled with the cessation of the Slots at Racetracks program, there was considerable concern locally that Dresden Raceway would suffer the loss of their slots facilities.
The agreements, which also included Woodstock and Clinton in Southwestern Ontario, are hoped to be finalized by the end of February.
The horse racing industry took a major hit last year as several tracks were pushed to the brink of closure after the removal of slots facilities connected to race tracks. It is expected that this announcement bodes well for the immediate success and operation of Dresden Raceway.
