Former Chatham Maroons player Kevin Westgarth will be wearing a new uniform as the 2013 lockout shortened NHL season gets underway.

Westgarth, who played two season for the Chatham Maroons in the early 2000s, where he was the team’s top academic player before attending Princeton, was traded Sunday from the Los Angeles Kings to the Carolina Hurricanes.

Westgarth won his first Stanley Cup last season as a member of the Kings. He was traded to Carolina in exchange for Anthony Stewart, a fourth round draft pick, and a sixth round draft pick.

Last season in 25 regular season games with Los Angeles, he scored 1 goal and added 1 assist. Westgarth also collected 39 penalty minutes.
