Tricker Backstops Maroons to Win

Article from Poinstreak – A stellar performance between the pipes by Scott Tricker helped the Chatham Maroons defeat the Strathroy Rockets, 4-1.

Chatham was led by Connor Doran, who registered one goal. Doran scored short handed 1:53 into the third period to make the score 2-0 Chatham. The Maroons found themselves down a man on Brennan Feasey’s roughing. Brayden Hopkins picked up the assist.

Strathroy was unable to stop Chatham from sending pucks towards the net, and the Maroons eventually piled up 38 shots on goal.

Chatham also got points from Feasey, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Alexander Morgan also scored for Chatham. In addition, Chatham received assists from Trevor Richardson, Nate Pietens, and Michael Verboom, who contributed one a piece.

The Rockets were held below their usual level of production. Strathroy averages 3.3 goals per game.

The Rockets were led by Stuart King, who scored the team’s only goal. King scored on the power play 2:32 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Chatham. Kurtis Sander assisted on the tally.

Chatham’s Tricker stopped 29 shots out of the 30 that he faced. The Maroons totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play. Chatham ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Blake Blondeel was ejected from the game. Gordie Weiss made 34 saves for Strathroy on 38 shots. The Rockets incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
