Baseball is Back
There might not be kids flooding baseball diamonds in Chatham-Kent, yet, but that doesn’t mean baseball isn’t back. Along with pitchers and catchers reporting to MLB spring training, several Chatham-Kent baseball players are back on the field for the start of their college seasons.
Matt Cook and Justin Cook, brothers from Dresden, went 3-1 this past weekend with the Madonna University Crusaders. Matt Cook pitched a complete game win over Bryan, collected six strike outs in seven-innings of the 5-3 victory.
Justin Cook had an RBI, and two runs in their opening weekend. Justin is a transfer from Texas Southern, while Matt transferred to Madonna from Indian Hills Community College.
Matthew Liberty, another Lambton-Kent Composite School graduate, is completing his sophmore season with the Suak Valley Community College Skyhawks. The Skyhawks will kick off their season competing in Vero Beach, Florida from March 10-14.
After playing for Erie Community College and undergoing surgery, Chatham’s Rich Corrente has also found himself back on an American college roster. Corrente is listed as a member of the St. Catherine College Patriots baseball team, but through 8 games, Corrente has yet to see action for the 2-6 Patriots.
