Dresden Finishes Off Blenheim in Game 6

The Dresden Kings weren’t about to allow their series with the Blenheim Blades to go to game 7. After losing in overtime in game 5, the Kings put an exclamation mark on the series shutting out Blenheim in game 6, 5-0.

Five different Kings scored in the game, starting with former Chatham Maroons Jesse Allen, who opened the scoring at 4:20 of the first period, assisted by former Maroons captain Keith Maisonville and Alex Ritchie.

In the second period, Derek VanEvery put the Kings up by two, while goalie Brent Paxton shut the door, during away 17 Blenheim shots in the period.

Jeremy Griffore and Macks Holmes scored in the opening two minutes of the third period. Maisonville picked up assists on both goals, giving the defenseman 3 assists in the game.

Finally, midseason acquisition Mike Myers, who came over in a trade from the Wallaceburg Lakers, scored the fifth goal of the game to cap off the night.

Paxton made 34 saves in the win.

Dresden will now face first place Essex, as no upsets occured in the first round. Third seed Wheatley starts their second round series Friday night against second seed Belle River.
