High School Sports Coming Back to Chatham-Kent!

After a long labour dispute between the Ontario government, and the Ontario teachers union, the road has been cleared for high school sports to return to Chatham-Kent immediately.

After several formal and informal meeting between the OSSTF and new Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne, the OSSTF proposed and passed the following motion, “That the Provincial Executive recommend to members that we suspend our political actions related to extra-curricular and voluntary activities.”

This means extracurricular sports can resume at the secondary level immediately. Currently, the winter season is coming to a close, but the spring season is about to begin including soccer, track and field, football, rugby, and badminton.

The first KCSSAA badminton tournament is scheduled for March 7 at Ridgetown, while CKSS while host the first Kent Pre-Meet on April 23rd.
