Kings On Edge of Elimination
The Dresden Kings are now one loss away from elimination after falling for the third straight game to the Essex 73s.
Essex finished the regular season first overall in the Great Lakes Junior C Hockey League, and have put on a dominating performance in the post season, sweeping the Kingsville Comets in round one, and now pushing the Dresden Jr Kings to the brink of another sweep in round two.
Friday night in Essex, Daniel McIntyre, Alex Garon, and Jordan Ryan scored for the 73s in a 3-0 shutout win. Trevor Wheaton made 34 saves, picking up the shutout win, while Brent Paxton stopped 37 in the losing effort.
Game four, a possible elimination game for the Kings, will be held Sunday night at 7:30 in Dresden.
In the other Great Lakes Junior C series, the Belle River Canadiens picked up their first win making their best-of-seven series 2-1, in favour of the Wheatley Sharks. Brandon Larocque scored a hat trick for Belle River, while Eric Rivard had Wheatley’s lone goal. Game four is Monday at 7:30pm in Wheatley.
