Maroons To Face Predators In Round One, Clinch First
Last season, the Maroons missed the playoffs, being edged out by the Predators for the eighth and final spot, however this year, the roles have reversed, as the Maroons sit in first place of the GOJHL’s Western Conference, while the Predators are again eighth.
The two teams have gone back and forth this season, with the Maroons taking four wins, and the Predators winning two.
In their last match up, February 9, Chatham edged out Lambton Shores 6-5 in overtime after pulling their goalie to tie the game with 24 seconds left in the game.
Lambton Shores is led by the powerful scoring duo of Adam Arseneault and Kyle Brothers. Lambton Shores also features a Chatham-Kent contingent of players, with Ridgetown’s Bryan Boersma, Thamesville’s Dillon Liberty, and Morpeth’s Jim McKinlay.
Chatham clinched first overall in the GOJHL’s Western Conference Wednesday night when the Leamington Flyers lost to the LaSalle Vipers, leaving Leamington in second to face the Sarnia Legionnaires in the opening round of playoffs.
Chatham faces Leamington Thursday on the road and LaSalle Sunday at home to close out their regular season.
