Sharks Swim Ahead in Game Two
The Wheatley Sharks scored four unanswered goals to overcome an early Belle River Canadiens lead and take game two of their second round Great Lakes Junior C playoff series.
After a scoreless first period, former Dresden Kings veteran James Shelton opened the scoring for Belle River before Mark Manchurek scored on the powerplay to make it 2-0 for the Canadiens. With the clock winding down in the second period, Kyle Quick scored on the powerplay for Wheatley to narrow the lead to 2-1.
Then, in the third, the Sharks poured on their comeback, with Dylan Impens scoring to tie the game, before Kurtis Ouellette scored on the powerplay with 2:28 remaining to put the Sharks ahead. With only one second remaining, Jon Woelk scored an empty netter to put the game on ice 4-2.
The series now moves to Belle River Friday, February 22 with puck drop at 7:30pm. Wheatley has a 2-0 series lead.
