Jones Scores His First of the Season

Chatham’s Ryan Jones scored his first goal of the 2013 NHL season Wednesday night in a 4-3 shootout loss to the San Jose Sharks.

After missing the first month of the shortened season due to an eye injury, Jones scored an unassisted wrap around goal to open the third period. The goal gave the Edmonton Oilers a two goal lead which they later squandered, losing in a shootout. Jones was also +2 in the win, playing 10:50.

“Together we haven’t been in this situation very much, and we learn from this game and push forward,” Jones said about the Oilers loss. Edmonton has points in 6 of their last 10 games.

In 11 games this season, Jones has 1 goal and 1 assist.

Jones has scored 17 and 18 goals in his last two NHL seasons with the Edmonton Oilers.
