Racing Season Kicks Off With Chilly Half

The running season has kicked off for 2013 with local runners competing in the Burlington Chilly Half Marathon.

Matt Wood, co-owner of Downtown Chatham’s Up & Running, crossed the finish line first out of Chatham-Kent competitors, finishing with a personal best time of 1:24:02 for the 21km course. This time placed Wood 14th in his age bracket out of 127 runners.

Kim Wood, also of Chatham’s Up & Running, placed an impressive 4th in her category, crossing the line in 1:32:32. This also placed Wood 18th out of 1514 female runners.

Other local competitors who competed were Noah Katzman (1:25:59), Steve Whyte (1:38:44), Eric Hystek (1:56:05), Irene Katzman (2:04:15), Chad Cook (2:04:37), Carrie Cook (2:07:39), Valerie Hystek (2:21:56), and Andrea Scafe-Robbins (2:48:59) of Chatham, and Barb Delanghe (2:53:35) of Blenheim.
