Community Run Planned to Support Boston Marathon Victims

Kim and Matt Wood of Dowtown Chatham’s Up & Running are helping to organize a community run to support the victims of the Boston Marathon tragedies.

The run, which is scheduled for Monday at 6:00pm, leaving from Up & Running at 138 King Street West, will aim to raise money for One Fund Boston. Runners are encouraged to wear blue or yellow for the run.

Kim Wood was at the Boston Marathon and had finished her run when the explosions occured. Wood finished the race in 3:38:15, good for 448th in her division, and 10739th overall, out of roughly 27,000 racers.

Along with Monday’s community run, which will be a short distance to encourage all to participate, Up & Running will be donating 10% of all sales for the remainder of April to One Fund Boston.

The official One Fund Boston website says, “Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and Boston Mayor Tom Menino have announced the formation of The One Fund Boston, Inc. to help the people most affected by the tragic events that occurred in Boston on April 15, 2013.”
