Season A Go For Dresden Raceway

After much speculation and worry, Dresden Raceway has announced a 16 race season for the summer of 2013.

The racing schedule, which was approved this week by the Ontario Racing Commission, will begin Victoria Day, Monday, May 20.

Featuring 16 race dates throughout the summer, the schedule at Dresden Raceway will end as it traditionally has, on Labour Day weekend.

The announcement is expected to save hundreds of jobs in the Dresden area. Many connected to horse racing in the region were concerned that the cessation of the Slots at Racetracks program would cause many smaller racetracks to suspend operations. Dresden however, including their OLG Slots location, survived this round of cuts.

The 16 date season is down from 23 last year, however that number included several Wednesday afternoon dates which were not successful.
