Diamonds Sparkle Early

Several Chatham Diamonds baseball teams were in action this past weekend, winning a number of early season games.

The Chatham Diamonds Major Mosquito team swept Belle River 16-9 and 8-3. In the opening game, Morgan Lucier hit two singles, collecting three RBI, Quinn Erickson had 2 singles and 2 RBI and Sam McKinlay tripled, scoring three times, as the Diamonds used a 15 run third inning, and a balanced attack including every member of the team recording a hit, to win the game. Winning pitcher Brock Whitson threw four innings allowing four runs on 3 hits, and striking out six.

In the second game of their double header, Jackson Moon and Dakota Vangoethem each singled and scored twice, while Quinn Erickson singled and had two RBI, and Brock Whitson tripled and scored once. Nate Rogers took the win on the mound, throwing four innings while allowing only 1 run, striking out five, and not walking no batters.

The Minor Peewee Diamonds played Walker Homesites Saturday, defeating their opponent 11-3, including nine runs in the first two innings. Malcolm Campbell and Garret Day each had two hits, while Day, Sam Haight, and Grayson Ladd each drove in two runs in the win.

Facing Forest, the Midget Chatham Diamonds shut out their opponent 14-0, while the Rookie Diamonds fell to Leamington 15-13.
