Chatham’s Jonathan Cartier has been selected as the Chatham-Kent Cougars Player of the Week, sponsored by EnviroClean Car & Dog Wash, for the week ending May 26.
Cartier led the Chatham-Kent Cougars Peewee team to a 42-36 come from behind victory against the Brantford Bisons.
“Jonathan Cartier dominated on Offense and defense,” said Chatham-Kent Cougars President Selwyn Jordan.
On 16 carries, Cartier picked up 190 yards, including 4 touchdowns and a 2-point convert. Cartier also had a 50 yard interception return for a touchdown in the win.
“When were down by 2 scores late in the 3rd quarter, Jon showed great determination on 4th and 30 when Jon converted on a successful 35 yard fake punt for a crucial first down which lead to a score,” explained Jordan about Cartier’s performance Saturday.
“Jon also had a 50 yard interception return for the winning TD. Those 2 plays were a few highlights where Jon refused to allow our team to lose,” said Jordan.
