Wallaceburg’s Jonah Pataki was announced this week among the Queens University Gaels football program’s top recruits for the 2013-2014 season.

Pataki is a three-time high school MVP with the Wallaceburg District Secondary School Tartans, winning multiple SWOSSAA Championsips with the school. He is also a four time KCSSAA All-Star. In 2012, Pataki scored 30-touchdowns and ran for 1875-yards.

“This is a big day for seven young men, it’s a big day for their families and it’s a big day for Queen’s football,” said Queens head coach Pat Sheahan regarding the recruits choosing Queens via the team’s website. “This is a lifetime commitment that these young men are making to Queen’s University and to the football program. We are honoured to have them and think they are going to be great additions to our program, we have invested a considerable amount of time getting to know them and building a bridge between them their current confines and the University. We are looking forward to seeing their careers unfold here at Queen’s.”

Pataki played for the Chatham-Kent Cougars football program during the summer where he was named the team’s Offensive MVP. The 5’11”, 203 lbs. running back also represented the Team Ontario Selects this past winter in Texas.

Queens finished last season third in the OUA with a 6-2 record. Pataki will be studying Physical Education at Queens University in the fall.
