Redemption MMA Closes Its Doors
Chatham-Kent’s best known MMA training organization, Redemption MMA, announced this weekend it will be closing up operations.
“Redemption MMA has closed its doors. After some long contemplation I have decided to focus on my family life for now,” said Redemption founder and coach Chris Kimmerly on his Facebook page.
Redemption MMA was founded in May 2010 and since has taught Chatham-Kent fighters the skills of grapping, kickboxing, and trained individuals for MMA bouts.
Redemption has produced several MMA fighters who have competed regionally, most notably Tyler Kirk. Kirk won and defended a Michigan Combat League title, and recent fought professionally at the Score Fighting Series in Sarnia.
Although Redemption is currently closing their doors, Kimmerly would like to thank those that he worked with, and isn’t ruling out a comeback in the future.
“I wanted to thank all those that have helped me and allowed me to help them,” Kimmerly wrote. “The symbol of Redemption MMA has always been the Phoenix and like the Phoenix, Redemption MMA may rise from the ashes in the future.”
