South Buxton Raceway Opens 2013 Season With A Bang
The 2013 South Buxton Raceway kicked off Saturday night with a bang. Sunshine and clear conditions welcomed the opening night crowd, which cheered on two veteran drivers who recorded start to finish victories.
Merlin’s Steve Shaw took the checkered flag, leading all 20 laps in the Windride Transportation Sport Stocks feature race. Fellow veteran Jim Dale Jr. crossed the finish line first after leading all 25 laps of the Schinkels Gourmet Meats UMP Modified feature to record his first victory of the season.
Cottam’s Denis DeSerrano found himself behind in the Tirecraft Mini-Mod feature, but was awarded the win after Chatham’s Randy McKinlay was penalized two positions for jumping the green flag on a restart with five laps to go.
Leamington’s Justin Coulter picked up his first feature win in the UMP Late Model division, edging Charing Cross’ Chris Ross and Michigan’s Eric Spengler in a heated battle to the checkered flag.
Regular racing continues each Saturday night this month at South Buxton Raceway.
