Chatham-Kent drivers were the only ones standing in the winners circle Saturday night at South Buxton Raceway in the track’s fifth week of competition.

Winning the Schinkels Gourmet Meats UMP Modifieds was Joe Brosseau of Merlin. Brosseau was followed by a contingent of local drivers as Darryl Hoekstra (Chatham), Jeff Daniels (Merlin), Brian Speelman (Chatham), and Eren Vanderiviere (Chatham) rounded out the top five in the feature.

Dresden’s Matt Sorrell grabbed his first ever feature win at Buxton, as the rookie driver took the checkered flag in the Tirecraft Mini-Mods feature. Trevor Jones (Blenheim), Steve Shaw Jr. (Merlin), Denis DeSerrano (Cottam), and Elliott Wilton (Blenheim) finished second through fifth respectively.

Merlin’s Steve Shaw took the checkered flag in the Windride Transportation Sport Stocks feature, holding off fellow Merlin driver Eren Vanderiviere and Wallaceburg’s Willy Vyse for the win.

Chris Ross of Charing Cross captured the UMP Late Models win. Brad Authier of Chatham was second, while Mike Lewis of Wallaceburg crossed the finish line third.

Dan Sheehan of Tilbury won the bombers race.
