Chatham’s Dane Belbeck is looking for your votes after being selected as one of the Top 24 finalists to Gillete’s DRAFTED competition, the Search for Canada’s Next Sportscaster.

In its fifth season, the winner of the competition receives a one year contract to work for a national sports television network as its
newest sportscaster as well as a one year spokesperson contract with Gillette.

Belbeck, a graduate of Chatham-Kent Secondary School, advanced to receive a degree in Journalism from Brock University, and Sports Media from Centennial College. Belbeck has since hosted a sports radio program for Centennial Internet Radio, worked for the Canadian Olympic Consortium, and has been a volunteer with TSN in Toronto.

To move to the next round, Belbeck needs votes. Voters can cast their say once per day for their favourite Top 6 finalists. Out of the Top 24, the two with the highest number of votes will automatically make it to the Top 6 while the remaining four spots are carefully selected by an expert judging panel.

Voting closes August 4, after which the remaining contestants will be put through a broadcasting boot camp in Toronto to choose the ultimate winner.
