Diamonds Sweep Blenheim, Other Baseball News
The Chatham Diamonds Rookie Team swept Blenheim in a local baseball double header this past weekend.
In the opening game, the Chatham Diamonds beat Blenheim 17-12. Hunter Myers had three hits and Sebastian Moreno, Owen Reeve and Dominic St. Amand had two hits a piece for Chatham, while Tevin Kelly had three hits and drove in four runs for the Diamonds.
The second game of the series was a nailbiter, as Chatham edged Blenheim 12-11. The Diamonds were trailing by 6 runs, but scored 7 in the final inning to comeback for the win. Tevin Kelly and Alex Chickowski each had a double and single to knock in two runs a piece during the win.
In softball news, the Chatham Mite Golden Eagles beat the Chatham Squirt Golden Eagles 11-10 at Blythe Park in the Central Lambton Squirt League. The winning pitcher was Alexis Beintema who pitched the final 2 innings of the four inning game. She allowed 5 runs on 1 hit and 7 walks while striking out 2. Kyra Joseph pitched the first allowing 5 runs on 2 hits and 2 walks while striking out 2. Olivia Roesch pitched the second inning allowing no runs on 1 hit and striking out 2.
Roesch had a double, Beintema and Maddux Swayze each had a single, while Shaina Meihl-Normandin had the walkoff run in the fourth by stealing home on a passed ball.
