Enviro Clean Cougar of the Week: Ben Bartlett
Charing Cross’ Ben Bartlett has been selected as the Chatham-Kent Cougars Player of the Week, sponsored by EnviroClean Car & Dog Wash, for the week ending June 2.
Bartlett led the Chatham-Kent Cougars Senior Varsity team to a convincing win Saturday, 44-7 over the Brantford Bison.
To open the game, Bartlett caught a 50-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Alex Goldoni, his first of two touchdowns in the game, en route to more than 100 receiving yards. He also scored a two point conversion for Cougars on an end around play.
Not only was Bartlett the top receiver for the Cougars in their win this week, he also, according to Coach James Clarke, was invaluable kicking for the Cougars during the game.
“Ben did all of our kicking and established great field position for us all night,” said Clarke about Bartlett’s performance.
“Ben Bartlett has been a loyal player and his sports family has been huge supporters to our Cougar program,” said Chatham-Kent Cougars president Sel Jordan. “Ben is an excellent wide receiver that runs very crisp routes, he has great hands and speed. Ben leads by example, and is a model student athlete for all our younger players. I believe Ben Bartlett can definitely play at the next level if that is his goal next year.”
Bartlett, a multi-sport athlete at Chatham-Kent Secondary School will be attending the University of Ottawa next Fall.
The Chatham-kent Cougars Senior Varsity team will travel to the University of Guelph to play the Guelph Bears Saturday June 8 at 8pm.
