Chatham Diamonds Major Peewee Tournament Champions – Contributed Photo

The Chatham Diamonds captured their home tournament, winning the Chatham Minor Baseball Association Major Peewee title over the weekend.

Facing the Corunna Giants in the championship game Connor Goldsmith pitched an amazing 5 1/3 innings, striking out 12, while allowing only 2 hits, as the Diamonds chopped down the Giants 8-2 for the tournament win.

Colton Shoemaker went 2-for-3 at the plate in the final, hitting a single and a double, collecting 4 RBIs. Shoemaker’s double was a bases loaded bash that busted open the game.

Spencer Marcus also went 2-for-3, while Grant Spence was 2-for-4 in the win.

To open the tournament, Chatham destroyed LaSalle 15-3. Connor Goldsmith had 2 triples and 3 RBIs, while Shoemaker had 1 single, 2 walks, and 4 RBIs.

In their second game, the Major Peewee Chatham Diamonds continued their dominance, defeating Kitchener 18-3. Goldsmith again dominated at the plate, this time going 4-for-4, on four singles, bring in four runs. Grant Spence was 3-for-4 with a double, 2 singles, and 3 RBIs, while Spencer Marcus also went 3-for-4 collectng a double, 2 singles, and 2 BRIs. All 12 Chatham Diamonds players had at least 1 hit in the win.

Facing the Brantford RedSox in their final game before the championship, the Major Peewee Chatham Diamonds continued their run, defeating Brantford 11-1. Ty Lucio, Ethan Paxton, and Ethan Lutz split the pitching duties, while Colton Shoemaker went 3-for-3 at the plate, and Lucio and Lutz each went a perfect 2-for-2.
