Peewee Griffins Perfect in Herb Lea Tournament Win
The Wallaceburg Griffins Peewee lacrosse team improved their 2013 record to a perfect 15-0 this weekend, as they swept their way to a championship at the Herb Lea Lacrosse Tournament held in Sarnia.
The Peewee Griffins beat Mississauga 7-3, London 7-4, Sarnia 7-3, and Mississauga again, 6-4 in the championship game.
Next weekend, the Peewee Wallaceburg Griffins will put their perfect record on the line against some of the province’s top teams at the Hamilton Super Series.
Also winning gold, were the Wallaceburg Peanut team finishing undefeated as well.
The Wallaceburg Midgets were undefeated going into the championship game but lost to division rival, the Sarnia Pacers 8-5. Wallaceburg had beat Sarnia 10-6 in the round robin, as well as defeating Six Nations 11-3, and Sault Ste. Marie 9-1, but couldn’t come up with the win in the final.
In all, the Wallaceburg Griffins had 6 teams playing in the Sarnia Herb Lea Tournament in the Peanut, Tyke, Novice, Peewee, Bantam and Midget divisions.
