After a weekend of postponed racing due to rain, South Buxton Raceway is hoping the green flag will be waving this Saturday, despite a slight risk of showers in the forecast.

The four Memorial races that were planned for this past Saturday at South Buxton, the Gord DeWael UMP Late Models, Brian Outhouse UMP Modifieds, Cory Schives Mini-Mods, and Len Bryden Sport Stocks have been rescheduled for Saturday, July 6.

Despite not winning a race yet this season, Chatham’s Brian Speelman sits atop the Schinkels Gourmet Meats UMP Modifieds standings with 279 points, 12 more than Chatham’s Louis Clements. Speelman leads all UMP Modifieds drivers with 3 top five finishes.

In UMP Late Models, Chatham’s Gregg Haskell has a sizeable lead over Jim Jones of Chatham, with 275 points.

After four weeks of racing in the Windride Transportation Services Sport Stocks division, Merlin’s Steve Shaw has put together a strong campaign, winning two features, two heats, and two crack-the-whip races, good for 295 points, and an 11 point lead over Merlin’s Eren Vanderiviere.

As the only driver with three feature wins, Denis DeSerrano sits atop the Tirecraft Mini-Mods point standings with 371 points. The Cottam driver is 44 points ahead of Merlin’s Jody Mason.

Gates open at 5:30pm Saturday, with races beginning at 7pm.
