Tartans Claim Junior Football Title

The Wallaceburg Tartans claimed the Kent Junior Football championship crown Saturday on home soil against the UCC Lancers. Wallaceburg now holds both the Senior and Junior Football titles.

Facing the UCC Lancers, who were looking for their fourth consecutive Junior title, the Tartans came from behind in the fourth quarter to defeat UCC 14-11.

Simon Yazbeck capped off Wallaceburg’s comeback with a rushing touchdown with only 1:21 left in the fourth quarter. Wallaceburg had trailed 11-0 entering the half, and the fourth quarter.

Brady Pataki scored Wallaceburg’s other fourth quarter touchdown.

Aaron Zimmer scored the lone UCC touchdown in the loss, while Jeremy Warnock had a field goal and a two point convert for the Lancers.
