Tartans, Lancers To Square Off In Final

The Wallaceburg Tartans and UCC Lancers will face off in the Kent Junior Football Final.

Wallaceburg pounded the JMSS Panthers 42-13 in Tuesday’s semi-final, with Brady Pataki and Jacob Broad each scoring two touchdowns for the Tartans. Marc Kellet and Simon Yazbeck had the other Wallaceburg touchdowns.

At UCC, the Lancers narrowly defeated a tough Blenheim Bobcats team 20-19 to punch their ticket to the Kent final.

Justin Stevens scored two touchdowns for the UCC Lancers in the win, while Jeremy Warnock had a pair of field goals and two point after touchdown converts.

Tanner Shuian had two touchdowns for Blenheim in the losing effort, while Jeremy Wammes rounded out the Bobcats’ scoring.

In the regular season, the Lancers and Tartans split their games, with UCC defeating Wallaceburg 28-21, and Wallaceburg beating UCC 21-20.

The Kent Final will be played Saturday at 1pm in Wallaceburg. UCC has won the last three Junior Kent Championships.
