2013 Inductees Named For Chatham Sports Hall of Fame

tennis-balls-2The Chatham Sports Hall of fame have named their 2013 inductees for athlete-modern, athlete-legend, builder, and team.

Winning five Canadian youth tennis championships and playing tennis from 1997 to 2001 for the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers, Chatham’s Tyson Parry was named the athlete-modern.

The athlete-legend, was Peter Gilbert, a skilled curler. Minor baseball coach Norman Morris, who passed away in 2012 was named the builder, while soccer executive Martin Aarts was also inducted as a builder.

Finally, the 1992-93 McGregor Panthers girls basketball team was the 2013 team inductee.

The annual induction ceremony will take place September 12 at the WISH Centre. Tickets go on sale August 1 at a cost of $40 for adults and $20 for children under 10. Tickets can be purchased from Jay Teetzel (519-354-2333).
